Replace the front lower ball joints

DIFFICULTY 3 / 5TIME ≈ Half a dayCOST FEBEST joints were about $19 each in 2016, plus shipping

Symptoms

Clunks over bumps, play at the knuckle, torn boots. Lifted vans wear them faster, and Delica Canada members warn that a lift adds strain.

The fix, step by step

  1. Support the van on stands, remove the wheel and unload the torsion bar.
  2. Separate the lower joint from the knuckle, unbolt it from the lower arm, fit the new joint, then reassemble and get an alignment.
  3. Check the part before you start.
  4. A member who ordered FEBEST 0420-PD8LLH and 0420-PD8LRH received the flat-bottomed 2WD-type left joint twice from two suppliers.
  5. The factory manual shows the 2WD and 4WD joints mounting differently (pages 33A-10 and 33A-11).
