About

Cookies

BoxyTrucks sets one kind of cookie: Google Analytics, and only to count which guides get read. No advertising cookies, no tracking across other sites, nothing sold.

What we set

Google Analytics cookie names and durations are set by Google; see Google Analytics cookie usage on websites.

Your choice

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies.

  • In the UK, the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off until you click Accept analytics.
  • Everywhere else, analytics cookies are on unless you click No thanks.

Choosing No thanks turns analytics storage off and deletes any _ga cookies already set on this site. With storage off, Google’s consent mode still sends basic cookieless pings: no cookies are read or set.

You can change your mind at any time: open cookie settings, or use the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.

What we don’t set

  • No advertising cookies. Advertising and ad-personalisation storage is switched off for every visitor.
  • No social widgets or embedded videos. We link to YouTube and Instagram rather than embedding them, so those sites can’t set cookies here.
  • Fonts. Our typefaces load from Google Fonts. That request sends your IP address to Google but doesn’t set cookies; see the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
  • Hosting. GitHub Pages serves the site and doesn’t set cookies on it.

Other sites

When you follow a link off BoxyTrucks, the site you land on sets its own cookies under its own policy. That includes affiliate links, such as Amazon, where the retailer or affiliate network uses a cookie to credit the sale. Those cookies belong to the site you visit, not to us. See the affiliate disclosure.

More

The privacy policy covers everything else we collect, including Show Us Your Rig submissions. If we change how we use cookies, we’ll update this page and ask for your choice again.
