Fluids, capacities & service intervals
On a 1KD-FTV, 'baseline' starts with the injectors: get the seats and injectors tested or replaced and the oil pickup inspected before you worry about anything else. Specs below are from Roughtrax's KDJ120 (1KD-FTV) data sheet unless noted. 1GR-FE and 2.7 petrol oil capacities are from Penrite's lookup for Australian Prados. 1GR-FE, 1KZ-TE and petrol-four trucks differ, so confirm in the manual for your engine.

| Timing belt & water pump (1KD-FTV, 1KZ-TE, 5VZ-FE) | 1KD: genuine kit (belt, hydraulic tensioner, idler, seals) + Aisin pump · 1GR-FE and 2.7 fours: timing chain | 1KD: 150,000 km or 5 years (HD Automotive, quoting Toyota); Roughtrax's UK sheet gives 100,000 mi or 120 months | The 1KD is an interference engine.
