Keep the 12 V battery alive at camp

DIFFICULTY 1 / 5TIME ≈ 30 minutesCOST Battery monitor and jump pack

Symptoms

The truck won't go into Ready after the doors or hatch have been open for a while with the engine off.

The fix, step by step

  1. Load-test the 12 V battery and replace it if it's weak.
  2. Owners recommend carrying a lithium jump pack, fitting a Bluetooth battery monitor (the Ancel BM300 and BM200 Pro have been mentioned) to watch state of charge, or starting the hybrid system before a long unloading stop.
  3. One owner warns that a big aftermarket AGM may sit at a partial charge, because the hybrid system doesn't fully top it off.
