Fix front-brake squeal in reverse

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME ≈ 1–2 hoursCOST Covered by TSB under warranty

Symptoms

Squealing from the front brakes when backing up, especially at low speed.

The fix, step by step

  1. Under warranty, ask the dealer for T-SB-0006-26 (pads and shims; it replaced T-SB-0046-25).
  2. Owners report rotors aren't part of the fix.
  3. One owner fixed it himself by fitting the revised anti-rattle springs from the TSB on both the lower and upper pins and greasing the pad contact points.
  4. He didn't replace pads or rotors, and he says the squeak is completely gone.

Tools & part numbers

  • Basic hand tools
  • brake grease
  • TSB anti-rattle springs (and pads/shims if following the full TSB).
