Steering ball-joint nut check (recall 23V903)

DIFFICULTY 1 / 5TIME ≈ 15 minutes to look; dealer fixCOST Free under recall

Symptoms

Usually none until it's serious. A loose or missing nut can let the steering rod ball joint come apart, and you lose steering.

The fix, step by step

  1. Affected 2023–2024 trucks may have non-locking nuts on the steering rod ball joint.
  2. Dealers install locking nuts.
  3. If you've bought used, confirm the campaign is closed, and check the steering linkage joints after hard trail use as a habit.
