Cabin air filter

DIFFICULTY 1 / 5TIME ≈ 5–10 minutes once you know the trickCOST About $18 for an aftermarket filter

Symptoms

Weak airflow or musty smell. Note: one owner found almost no cabin heat in 15°F weather with the filter removed.

The fix, step by step

  1. On a left-hand-drive truck, slide the passenger seat back and recline it, then lie on your back in the footwell with a headlamp.
  2. Unsnap the two side clips under the filter frame, let the hinged plate swing down, pull the filter out (a curved pick helps), and fit the new one with the airflow arrow toward the cabin.
  3. Snap it shut.
  4. The glovebox stays in place.
