Symptoms
With 285/75R17 or 255/85R17 tires, the spare hits or barely clears the small rear door.
The fix, step by step
- Owners running 285/75s and 255/85s added a couple of washers under the spare carrier bolts (one used the top and lower-left bolts) to tilt the spare clear of the small door.
- For bigger tires or a cleaner fix, Leitner Designs sells a bolt-on bracket that moves the spare 1¾ in. up, right and outboard.
- Leitner rates it for up to 37 in. tires, but not for wheels with more than 25 mm offset.
