Symptoms
Service interval, or after dusty trail use. One owner changes it every second oil change (about 5,000 miles).
The fix, step by step
- Loosen the captive screws around the airbox (they don't come out), lift the upper half, remove the old filter and drop in the new one.
- Note how the white felt pre-filter is fitted: on some it's glued to the filter, on others it clips into the bottom of the box.
- Reassemble.
