Reseal the hardtop, liftgate and doors

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME ≈ A weekendCOST Seals plus adhesive

Symptoms

Water on the floors after rain or a car wash, wind noise at speed, or rust starting under old seals.

The fix, step by step

  1. Remove the old rubber and scrape the channels back to clean metal and fiberglass.
  2. Treat any surface rust you find.
  3. Fit new hardtop quarter-glass seals, door-opening weatherstrip and the liftgate seal with weatherstrip adhesive, working a short section at a time.
  4. Refit the top and check the fit at the bedsides before you tighten the bolts fully.
  5. Water-test with a hose.
