Rear camera water damage

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME VariesCOST Free under recalls 24V-947 and 26V-678; otherwise a camera plus labor

Symptoms

A blank, fogged or distorted rear-view image, or a camera fault message when you select reverse. Land Rover has recalled the L460's rear camera twice for water: 2022–23 trucks because water can get inside the camera (24V-947), and 2022–26 trucks because there aren't enough drain holes for water to escape the camera area (26V-678).

The fix, step by step

  1. Run the VIN.
  2. Under 24V-947 dealers replace the camera; under 26V-678 they drill extra drain holes in the underside of the tailgate trim and replace the camera if it's damaged.
  3. Land Rover planned to mail interim owner letters for 26V-678 in December 2026.
  4. On a truck you wash often or take through water crossings, keep the area under the tailgate trim clear of mud so water can drain.
