Symptoms
'Low battery, please start engine' messages, a truck that is electrically dead after a few days parked, or alarm and keyless-entry glitches.
The fix, step by step
- First rule out software (door-module and RFA updates have fixed some drains) and anything keeping the car awake.
- Then load-test the 12-volt battery.
- On a 2024 D350, one owner found the lithium-ion starter battery under the driver's seat, only removable with the truck on a ramp.
- A label under the bonnet says to jump-start at no more than 13.7 V, so don't use a random jump pack.
- Fit the correct battery type and register it with a diagnostic tool so the battery-management system charges it properly.
- Some trucks also carry an AGM auxiliary stop/start battery.
- Check fitment by VIN.
