Symptoms
A squeal from the front brakes when moving forward or in reverse. Owners mostly hear it on the first stops of a cold or humid morning, and it fades once the brakes warm up.
The fix, step by step
- Lexus bulletin L-SB-0036-24 (October 2024) covers front-brake squeal on 2022–2024 LX 600s and 2024 GX 550s.
- An IH8MUD owner's dealer said the fix was new front pads and rotors at no charge, though the parts were back-ordered at the time.
- Ask a dealer to check your VIN against the bulletin first.
- Out of warranty, fit new pads and rotors, clean the caliper hardware and pad abutments, use a thin film of brake grease where the pads slide, and bed the new pads in.
