Rear air spring replacement or coil conversion

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME ≈ 2–3 hoursCOST "A couple hundred" dollars for aftermarket air springs (owner report). Coil kits cost more.

Symptoms

Rear sags after sitting, the compressor runs a lot, or the height-control warning appears. This applies only to trucks with rear air ('10–'13 Premium and '14-on Luxury).

The fix, step by step

  1. Support the axle on stands, remove the wheels and release the air springs.
  2. Either fit new air springs or convert to coils with a bolt-on kit.
  3. Lifting a truck with rear air means converting first.
  4. Southern Style Offroad's kit adds adjustable spacers to correct KDSS lean.
  5. If you convert and plan to add Crawl Control later, you'll need the non-AVS crawl switch (84970-60090).
