Suspension bushes, shocks and rear air springs

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME Half a dayCOST Parts plus labor

Symptoms

Clunks, a jiggly ride, uneven rebound, or a harsh rear end on air-sprung Kakadus.

The fix, step by step

  1. Replace worn shock and lower control-arm bushes.
  2. Tighten suspension bolts with the truck at ride height on its wheels, not hanging on a two-post hoist, which Unsealed 4X4 says is a common cause of early bush failure.
  3. Replace leaking rear air springs or convert the rear to coils.
