Tame rolling-stop hesitation

DIFFICULTY 1 / 5TIME ≈ 15 minutesCOST Free (or an OBD tool)

Symptoms

Delayed or missing throttle response, or a clunk into first, when accelerating from a rolling stop. Owners say it's worse in Sport and Sport+ modes.

The fix, step by step

  1. As an interim fix until Lexus updates the software, owners set the pre-collision system (PCS) to its minimum distance using the screen in front of the driver; turning PCS off also works but loses a safety system.
  2. Some use Carista to keep the PCS setting across restarts (and to quiet the ventilated-seat fans).
  3. Make sure any software recall is done first.

Tools & part numbers

  • None, or an OBD-II dongle with Carista.
