Symptoms
The engine cuts out off-road and there's a pool of diesel near the right rear wheel.
The fix, step by step
- Unsealed 4X4 says the diesel's plastic fuel filter sits by the rear wheel arch, where rocks and sticks can hit it, and recommends an aftermarket protection plate.
- GMF4x4's FG-2014 is 3 mm powder-coated steel.
- It bolts on with the supplied hardware and needs no drilling or cutting.
- If the filter or housing is already cracked, replace it and follow the workshop manual's fuel-priming procedure before you try to restart.
