DIY repair · Jeep Wagoneer & Grand Wagoneer (WS)

Front and rear brake pads and rotors

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME ≈ 2–3 hours for both axlesCOST Parts plus a brake-fluid flush

Symptoms

Pulsing under braking, squeal, or a pad-wear warning. A 6,000-plus-lb SUV that tows is hard on brakes.

The fix, step by step

  1. These trucks have a switch-operated electric parking brake.
  2. Before you work on the rear calipers, put it in service mode with a scan tool or by the owner's-manual method so the motors retract.
  3. Pull the calipers, replace the pads and rotors, clean and grease the slide pins, torque everything to spec and bed the pads in.
  4. Flush the DOT 3 fluid at the same time if the history is unknown.
