Unladen 'jitter': shock upgrade

DIFFICULTY 3 / 5TIME Not documentedCOST Parts plus labor

Symptoms

The ride feels busy and jittery over small bumps when the bed is empty. Forum owners say the wagon doesn't do this.

The fix, step by step

  1. Owners blame the longer wheelbase, the springs rated for payload, and possibly the bed mounts.
  2. One owner fitted Radflo adjustable shocks and reports a good ride on and off road.
  3. Another fitted MetalCloak suspension and still felt the jitter.
  4. Ineos's Kaiju build used JMACX remote-reservoir shocks.
  5. Adding the load you actually carry often settles it first, so try that before you spend money.
