Diesel harshness at 1,700–2,000 rpm (non-US)

DIFFICULTY 1 / 5TIME ≈ 15 minutesCOST Free

Symptoms

Vibration or harshness at a steady 1,700–2,000 rpm on B57 diesel trucks.

The fix, step by step

  1. On a right-hand-drive diesel, one INEOS Forum owner found the 10 mm bolt holding the heat shield between the airbox and firewall loose.
  2. Tightening it removed about 90% of the harshness.
  3. Others traced rattles to an exhaust heat shield and to the heater pipes under the glovebox.
  4. These are owner fixes, not an Ineos bulletin.
