Centre diff lock vacuum diaphragm

DIFFICULTY 3 / 5TIME ≈ 2–3 hours (estimate)COST Parts plus labor

Symptoms

Vacuum reaches the transfer case but the centre lock still won't engage, or a hand pump on the actuator won't hold vacuum.

The fix, step by step

  1. With the truck safely supported, test the centre-lock actuator on the transfer case with a hand vacuum pump.
  2. If it leaks down, replace the diaphragm unit, reconnect the lines and confirm the centre lock engages and the light comes on before testing rear and front.
  3. G-luxe Travel films the job on a W463 G 500.
