722.6 transmission service and conductor plate

DIFFICULTY 3 / 5TIME ≈ 2 hours (service)COST Parts plus labor

Symptoms

Harsh 2–3 shifts, flares, limp mode, speed-sensor codes such as P0715, ATF wicking up the harness.

The fix, step by step

  1. If the service history is unknown, service it now: drop the pan, replace the filter and pan gasket, replace the electrical connector sleeve (the usual oil-wicking point), refill with MB 236.14 ATF and set the level hot.
  2. If speed-sensor codes persist, a failing conductor plate is a common cause.
  3. For the later seven-speed (2007-on), Handsome Motors advises fluid changes every 40–50k miles.
