Cabin and hybrid-battery filters

DIFFICULTY 1 / 5TIME ≈ 20 minutesCOST Filters only

Symptoms

Weak HVAC airflow; on i-FORCE MAX trucks used on dusty roads, clogged hybrid battery intake filters that can let the pack run hot.

The fix, step by step

  1. Cabin: lower the glovebox by pushing in its sides, pull the filter cartridge, fit the new filter with the airflow arrows pointing down (Toyota says check every 15,000 miles).
  2. Hybrid: the two intake filters sit behind the second-row seats, one per side — pry the lower outer corner of each cover with a trim tool, pull the cover off, swap the filter and clip it back with the top tabs first.
