Fluids, capacities & service intervals
Treat any early Scout as a 50-plus-year-old machine whose fluids could be any age. Baseline everything, then inspect the front knuckles, brakes and steering before trusting it on the trail. Factory capacities for the 80 and 800 weren't available in sources we could verify, so check the IH shop manual or owner's manual for those. The one firm rule from IH specialists: keep GL-5 gear oil out of the transfer case.
