Repair rotten floors, sills and radius-arm brackets

DIFFICULTY 4 / 5TIME ≈ Days, with weldingCOST Parts plus fabrication labor

Symptoms

Holes in the boot floor or under the rear seats, rust around the seat-belt anchors, MOT or inspection failures on body mounts, or a rear clunk from a corroded arm bracket.

The fix, step by step

  1. Cut back to clean metal before judging it: forum regulars warn it always looks worse once cleaned up.
  2. Pressed repair floors are available in the UK, and sills and radius-arm brackets come as panels.
  3. Weld in new metal, seam-seal and paint, then wax the cavities.
  4. If the chassis rail itself or the spring and body mounts are badly rotted, BigJimny warns the truck may be beyond economical repair.
