Symptoms
A truck that sits low or leans, clunks from the shackles, tires rubbing on 31s, and a harsh ride.
The fix, step by step
- Support the frame, jack each axle in turn and unbolt the U-bolts, shackles and spring eyes.
- Swap worn bushings or whole springs, check the spring hangers for cracks, and torque everything with the truck's weight on the wheels.
- For 31-inch tires without rubbing, IH Parts America's owner recommends its CPT reverse-shackle kit with a 2.5-inch spring lift.
- Anything Scout says the Rough Country 2.5-inch kit fits up to a 32-inch tire safely.
