DIY repair · Land Rover Range Rover Classic

Air suspension to coil conversion (1993–95)

DIFFICULTY 3 / 5TIME ≈ 3.5 hoursCOST Kit plus labor (replacing a failed air system can cost around $4,000)

Symptoms

Truck sagging at one corner overnight, the compressor running constantly, height-sensor or valve-block faults, or a truck that won't rise to off-road height.

The fix, step by step

  1. Fit a purpose-built conversion kit, which replaces the air springs with coils and comes with the required hardware and instructions, and removes the compressor and valve block from the system.
  2. Atlantic British says its kit gives about 2 inches of lift on a short-wheelbase truck; one LWB owner reported 1.5–2 inches.
