Fitting 33–35 in tires

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME ≈ 2–4 hoursCOST Tires and parts

Symptoms

Not a fault. You want more sidewall and clearance than the factory tires provide.

The fix, step by step

  1. Owners report 265/70R18 on factory suspension and many running 275/70R18 (about 33.2 in) without modification.
  2. One GX 550 owner runs 275/70R18 KO3s on stock wheels with an 8 mm top shock spacer and billet rear lower control arms and has no rub at full articulation. 285/70 is where rubbing starts. 35s generally need a small level or lift, and one owner of the twin LC250 runs 35x11.50R18 with a 1.5-in front lift and a 15 mm rear spacer.
