Front lower control arms (bushings & ball joints)

DIFFICULTY 3 / 5TIME ≈ 3–4 hours for both sidesCOST Kits $329–739 at Lucky8; one owner was quoted about C$1,200 for rear arms

Symptoms

Clunk over bumps, wandering on the highway, uneven front tyre wear, torn ball-joint boots.

The fix, step by step

  1. Most owners replace the whole arm, with its bushings and ball joint, rather than pressing in new bushings.
  2. Support the truck, separate the ball joint, remove the inner mounting bolts and swap the arm.
  3. Lucky8 warns that the original bolts often rust into the arm and frame and have to be cut out, so buy the hardware kit.
  4. Finish with an alignment.
