Symptoms
Wear warnings, vibration under braking, squeal when reversing (early trucks had a TSB for rear squeal), a weak electronic parking brake.
The fix, step by step
- Pads and discs are conventional: retract the piston, swap pads with new wear sensors, and replace discs if they're under minimum thickness or lipped.
- Owners note the rear-squeal fix works best with new rotors as well as pads.
- The parking brake uses shoes inside the rear disc.
- Inspect them whenever the discs are off, and follow the workshop-manual procedure for the electronic parking brake before you work on them.
Tools & part numbers
- Sockets, caliper piston tool, torque wrench, diagnostic tool for EPB service mode
- pads, discs, sensors, EPB shoes
