Symptoms
One corner sags overnight, the truck leans when parked, hissing from a wheel well, bouncy ride from a leaking damper.
The fix, step by step
- Confirm the corner with an overnight drop test and soapy water.
- Support the truck on stands at the chassis, deflate the system with a diagnostic tool, disconnect the air line and height-sensor link, and unbolt the strut.
- Arnott advises supporting the vehicle while a new spring first inflates so the bag can't fold under, replacing springs in pairs, and checking the damper, since oil from a leaking shock can ruin a new air spring.
Tools & part numbers
- Jack and stands, sockets, spring tools for the front strut, diagnostic tool to deflate and recalibrate
- air spring or complete strut
