Symptoms
One corner leans or drops, the fault keeps coming back, or you hear air hiss over bumps. A soapy-water test shows the leak.
The fix, step by step
- Pull the suspension fuse, support the body on stands and remove the wheel.
- Support the lower strut bolt with a jack, remove the two top nuts in the wheel well and the third in the engine bay (lift the heat shield first), and crack the air line slowly, letting any pressure bleed off before it comes apart.
- Either fit a complete strut or swap the bag onto the old damper with new O-rings and spacers, then refit and let the system fill.
- Some owners recalibrate the height afterwards.
Tools & part numbers
- 15 mm sockets, swivel, breaker bar, 12/13 mm spanner for the air line, jack and stands
- front strut RNB501580 or air spring LR016403
- seal LR016412
