Symptoms
The parking brake won't apply or release, or the motor grinds or whines without effect. A seized EPB can leave the truck stuck.
The fix, step by step
- In an emergency, PistonHeads notes the EPB can be released manually with the jack handle through a metal loop behind a plastic panel.
- For the repair, the actuator sits ahead of the rear frame rail with very little clearance; owners remove the module and cables, then fit a gear repair kit or a complete actuator.
- One LandRoverWorld LR4 owner traced his fault to the cable adjusting bolt being threaded in too far and reset it to five turns into the tube.
- Check the rear shoes and their hardware while you're there.
