DIY repair · Mercedes-Benz G-Class (second generation)

Door hinge sag

DIFFICULTY 3 / 5TIME ≈ 2 hours per doorCOST $400–1,200

Symptoms

Doors dropping at the striker, needing a lift or a slam to latch, uneven gaps.

The fix, step by step

  1. Lubricate hinges with Mercedes-approved grease at every service.
  2. If worn, replace the hinges and check the door straps; alignment is fussy, which is why many owners leave it to a dealer.
