Symptoms
A bent tie rod after a hard hit on the trail, toe out of spec, the steering wheel off-center, or a tie rod that has failed outright on a lifted truck with big tires.
The fix, step by step
- Ford's own answer was stronger hardware.
- The 2024 Badlands and Sasquatch got the Wildtrak's HOSS 3.0 steering gear, and the 2025 HOSS 3.0 option added upgraded inner and outer tie rods with the Raptor's severe-duty rack.
- To replace a tie rod, mark or count the turns on the old outer end, separate it from the knuckle, unscrew the inner rod from the rack under the boot, fit the new parts to the same length and torque them, then get an alignment.
