Pinzgauer 716 / 718 biggest tire size: stock and lifted
The biggest tire owners run on a Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer 716 / 718 at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.
The Turbo D's swing-axle suspension has no lift kits to speak of, so this is about gearing more than clearance. Owners' favorite is 255/85R16, about the same height as a 285/75R16 but narrower, which one Belgian owner says 'just fits perfect'. German Wikipedia says the trucks often run 235/85R16s, and ATL put 285/75R16 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrains on its 2.5 TDI 718. A US owner advises against 285s on a 2.4 because of the extra drag and scrub, and found 34-inch 8.25 tires too tall for the engine.

| Stock | 255/85R16 (about 33 in) | Owners' favorite: as tall as a 285/75R16 but narrower, with less drag and scrub. 34-inch 8.25 tires fit but were too tall for the 2.4 TD's power, and one owner advises against 285s on a 2.4. |
| Stock (2.5 TDI or 718) | 285/75R16 | Fitted by ATL on its 2.5 TDI trucks, and the size one owner would choose for a 718. There's no established lift market for the swing-axle Turbo D. |
