200 Series Land Cruiser biggest tire size: stock and lifted
The biggest tire owners run on a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.
On IH8MUD, one owner says 285/65R18 'will fit fine with zero rubbing' on a stock truck and 285/70R18 'will rub a bit but should be manageable'; others in the same thread report the 285/70 needs heat-gunning and trimming of the plastic, so treat 285/65R18 as the no-work size. One owner running 285/70R17s on aftermarket wheels reported light rubbing on the plastic liner, fixed with a heat gun. The tire-database thread calls 275/70s 'tried and true'. For anything bigger, check the forum's 200 Series Tire and Wheel Size Database.
Biggest 200 Series Land Cruiser tire at every lift
| LIFT | BIGGEST TIRE | WHAT IT TAKES |
|---|---|---|
| Stock | 285/65R18 | IH8MUD: fits with zero rubbing. 285/70R18 rubs a bit but is manageable; 275/70s are the 'tried and true' size. |
| 2.5–3 in | 285/75R17 or LT285/70R18 (about 34 in) | A common size on lifted trucks in the forum's 35-inch roll call, usually with aftermarket upper control arms and wheels. |
| 3 in | 35x12.50R17 | Owners report front mud flaps removed, a Slee KDSS relocation, light fender-liner trimming and aftermarket wheels. Without those, 35s rub on the stock upper control arms and KDSS arms. One set measured just over 34 inches mounted. |

Lift kits, wheels and tires for the 200 Series Land Cruiser
A two- to three-inch lift with better shocks clears 285/70s and bigger. On KDSS trucks, close the valves afterward. Many IH8MUD builds pair a lift with aftermarket upper control arms.
Bigger tires dull the 3.30-geared eight-speed in particular. Re-gearing to 4.88 and adding selectable lockers is the classic 200 build.
A winch-capable front bumper, plus a rear bumper with a tire carrier to free up cargo space.
Fitment comes from owners and specialists; wheel width, offset, trimming and bump stops change what fits. Check clearance at full lock and full flex before you buy. Some links are affiliate links.
