Jeep Wrangler JL biggest tire size: stock and lifted
The biggest tire owners run on a Jeep Wrangler JL at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.
On a Rubicon, 35s. Driving Line ran 35x12.50R17s on a stock-height JL Rubicon with JKS bump-stop spacers and the stock flares. They cleared on level ground but hit the inner fenders when flexed, and the spacers cost about 2 inches of up-travel. On a Sport or Sahara, the realistic answer is a 33 with a wheel change; 35s on those trims usually need bump stops, less backspacing and often a 2–2.5-inch lift. Driving Line's test truck was a four-door, but the two-door uses the same axles and flares.
Biggest Jeep Wrangler JL tire at every lift
| LIFT | BIGGEST TIRE | WHAT IT TAKES |
|---|---|---|
| Stock | 33 in (e.g. 285/70R17); 35 in on Rubicon with bump-stop spacers | A 35 clears a Rubicon at ride height but rubs the inner fenders on compression and at full lock. Bump-stop extensions fix it at the cost of about 2 in of up-travel. On Sport and Sahara, a 33 is the sensible stock limit. |
| 1.5 in (factory Xtreme 35) | LT315/70R17 (35 in) | Jeep's factory Xtreme 35 package for the two-door from 2024, on Rubicon and Willys with the 2.0 turbo only ($4,495): 1.5 in lift, 4.56 gears, 17x8 beadlock-capable wheels and a reinforced swing gate. Standard on the 2.0T two-door Rubicon X. |
| 2–2.5 in | 35 in | What Sport and Sahara need for 35s, together with bump stops and a wheel with about 4.5–5.0 in backspacing. |

Lift kits, wheels and tires for the Jeep Wrangler JL
A 2–2.5-inch lift restores the up-travel you'd lose to bump-stop spacers and clears 35s on any trim. Correct the geometry with brackets or adjustable arms.
Sport and Sahara owners add lockers and regear for 35s; Rubicons usually only need gears.
Fitment comes from owners and specialists; wheel width, offset, trimming and bump stops change what fits. Check clearance at full lock and full flex before you buy. Some links are affiliate links.
