Hummer H2 years to avoid, and the best years to buy

Every AM General Hummer H2 model year: which ones owners and specialists recommend, which have documented problems, which carry recalls, and what they sell for now.

The short answer

If budget allows, 2008–09 for the 6.2, the six-speed and the much better interior; owners say they're better in every way. Among 2003–07 trucks, one owner would pick a mid-2005 to 2007 truck over a 2003 for the stronger front diff and better build.
