Symptoms
A wet line or pink crust along the top plastic tank next to the molded platform, slow coolant loss and a sweet smell after a drive. It's most often reported on 2008–2010 trucks.
The fix, step by step
- Drain the coolant and follow the factory removal and installation steps posted in the IH8MUD radiator-replacement thread linked from the Common Failures FAQ.
- Fit the current (later) part number, then refill with Toyota pink long-life coolant and bleed the system.
- Check the water pump while the front of the engine is open.
