Symptoms
A steady power-steering fluid leak that has been blamed on the hoses or the steering box.
The fix, step by step
- Unsealed 4X4 says the usual culprit is the reservoir itself.
- There is one seal under the cap and another under the top plate.
- Remove the reservoir, carefully pry open the crimps on the lip, replace both seals, re-crimp the top and refit it.
- Top up with DEXRON-type ATF.
