Symptoms
Oil on the inside of the front wheels, pitted chrome balls, vague steering.
The fix, step by step
- Strip the hub, stub axle and CV, unbolt the swivel housing and fit a new ball, bearings and seals, setting preload with shims as in the workshop manual.
- Check the new ball against the old: one owner found the superseded FTC5366 sat the CV sleeve 2 mm further out than the original FRC7065 and locked the assembly.
- Also note ABS and non-ABS swivel parts differ.
Tools & part numbers
- Hub nut socket, torque wrench, spring balance
- swivel ball (FRC7065 still stocked by Paddock Spares per LandyZone), seal and bearing kit
