DIY repair · Land Rover Discovery Series I

Reseal leaking sunroofs and replace drains

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME A day with the headlining outCOST Sealant, seals and drain tube

Symptoms

Water dripping from the roof lining or rear vents, wet carpets, sagging or stained headlining.

The fix, step by step

  1. The outer plastic surround often leaks where it meets the metal roof; LandyZone's long-running guide says a bead of silicone around that joint can cure it.
  2. If not, drop the visors and headlining (crosshead and Torx T20 fixings), remove the sunroof frame, clean off old sealant, reseal the frame-to-roof seal and replace split drain tubes and cups.
  3. Check the roof-rail foam pads while the lining is out.

Tools & part numbers
