Symptoms
Sagging springs, cracked leaves, or a rear shackle that flips over center on a lifted truck.
The fix, step by step
- Old Man Emu's 2-inch FJ40 kits come with springs, Nitrocharger shocks, greaseable shackles and pins, bushings, U-bolts and a steering damper.
- Swap one axle at a time with the frame supported.
- If you reuse factory shackles with lifted springs, OME's FK08 anti-inversion plates weld to the frame to stop them binding over center.
- Note the spring-bushing size change around 7/1980: Cruiser Corps says two-bolt spring pins mean the early small bushings.
