Fit proper bulb-type door seals

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME ≈ 1–2 hoursCOST A couple of hundred dollars for a four-door 76, per Unsealed

Symptoms

Wind noise that gets worse with age, whistling at town speeds, diesel fumes in traffic, and a dusty dash after a day on dirt roads.

The fix, step by step

  1. The factory flat pinch-weld seals never fully close the gap.
  2. Pull them and fit bulb-type seals that compress when the door shuts.
  3. Unsealed notes the door openings have stayed the same since 1985, so the same seals fit every 70.
