Set the front ride height at the torsion bars

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME ≈ 1 hour plus an alignmentCOST Free to adjust; new torsion bars cost more

Symptoms

A front end that has settled or sits lower than the rear, or new tires that need more clearance.

The fix, step by step

  1. Each torsion bar has an adjuster bolt under the truck, one per side.
  2. Turn them evenly and measure both sides, keeping some rake, since IH8MUD members point out the 100 handles best with the rear a little higher.
  3. Clean and anti-seize the adjuster threads.
  4. If you need real lift or more load capacity, fit uprated torsion bars and matching rear coils, then align.

Tools & part numbers

  • Socket and long extension
  • tape measure
  • anti-seize
  • Old Man Emu torsion bars (303001) and rear coils (2865) if upgrading.
