DIY repair · Jeep Wagoneer & Cherokee (SJ)

Patch floors, rockers and lower quarters

DIFFICULTY 4 / 5TIME ≈ Several weekendsCOST Parts plus bodywork labor

Symptoms

Wet or crunchy carpet, holes under the mats, soft rockers, bubbling paint low on the quarters and around the fuel tank.

The fix, step by step

  1. Pull the seats and carpet and wire-brush everything to see how far it goes.
  2. Cut back to clean metal and weld in floor sections, rockers and lower-quarter patches, then seam-seal, prime and undercoat.
  3. Panels sold for the four-door Wagoneer won't all fit a two-door Cherokee, so test-fit before cutting.
