Symptoms
A growl that changes with speed or when you weave, play at the wheel, or ABS, traction control and SERVICE 4WD warnings when a failing hub damages the wheel-speed sensor. One owner running 37s is on their sixth set.
The fix, step by step
- Remove the wheel, caliper, rotor and CV axle nut, unplug the ABS sensor, then unbolt the hub from the knuckle and fit the new unit.
- Owners prefer Timken, which they say is the OE supplier, or the ACDelco FW314.
- Torque the axle nut to the factory figure; owners disagree about the number, so check the service manual.
