Sagging doors and rear-door leaks

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME 1–2 hours per door (estimate)COST Hinge pin $8.50; rear hinge seal $22 (Expedition Imports)

Symptoms

Doors that drop when opened and have to be slammed, wind noise, or water and rust around the rear door hinges.

The fix, step by step

  1. Support the door, drive out the worn hinge pins and fit new ones.
  2. Swap the rear-door hinge seals while the hinges are accessible, using the original recessed seals rather than the stick-on type.
  3. Clean and treat any rust you find under them.
