3rd Gen Pajero / Montero biggest tire size: stock and lifted

The biggest tire owners run on a Mitsubishi Pajero / Montero (Third Generation) at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.

The short answer

About 33 inches if it's narrow. Owners on Expedition Portal run 235/85R16 and 255/85R16 (about 33 in) on stock suspension with no rubbing, and one '05 owner runs LT265/70R17. A 285/75R16 is a step too far: owners report it rubbing at full lock even with an OME lift. A veteran owner's advice is that '265/75R16 or 17 are the best fit on these rigs, even lifted.' Stock tires on BaT's 2001 Limited are 265/70R16.

Stock255/85R16 (≈33 in, narrow) or 265/75R16Owners run 235/85R16 and 255/85R16 with no rubbing on stock suspension, and an '05 runs LT265/70R17. A 285/75R16 rubs at full lock and comes close to the inner fender.
2 in255/85R16 or 265/75R16An owner with a 2 in OME lift runs 255/85R16s with no issues. With IRS the lift doesn't change the wheel's swing, so 285/75R16 still rubs at full lock on OME medium springs.
2 in + trimming34x10.50R17One owner runs 34x10.5R17 on 17x7 wheels with 4.90 gears after trimming and massaging the front liners; it touches only on big impacts. Others warn a 34 is gutless without regearing.
